What this policy covers

It covers the personal data we collect when you contact us about booking Adam, when we quote for and deliver a performance, and when you visit this website. It follows the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The personal data we collect

There is no contact form on this website, so nothing is submitted to us through it. We only hold what you send us directly.

When you enquire or book: your name, email address, telephone number, postal address where relevant, the date and venue of your event, the details of what you have asked for, and our correspondence with you. Where a booking proceeds, we also hold the details needed to invoice and take payment.

When you visit this site: our hosting provider records standard server log data, which includes your IP address, browser type and version, and device type and operating system. That is a function of the web server rather than anything this site does deliberately.

If you press play on a video: the videos on this site do not load until you click them. When you do, YouTube receives your request and may set its own cookies and collect data under its own privacy policy, over which we have no control.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To answer your enquiry and prepare a quote. Our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
  • To deliver a booking you have made. Performance of our contract with you.
  • To invoice, take payment and keep accounts. Performance of our contract, and our legal obligations.
  • To meet our legal and regulatory duties, including accounting and tax records. Legal obligation.
  • To send marketing, which we only do where you have asked for it. Consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

How long we keep it

Only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, including for legal, accounting and reporting requirements. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are held for a reasonable period in case you come back to us, then deleted. Booking and financial records are held for the periods UK accounting and tax law require.

Who we share it with

We will never sell your personal data. We share what is necessary with:

  • Adam Cable, so that he can perform at your event
  • Your venue or other suppliers, where coordinating the day requires it
  • Our IT, email and accounting providers, acting on our instructions
  • Our professional advisers, where they need it to advise us
  • Authorities and regulators, where the law requires it

Where your data is held

Primarily in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where any transfer outside those areas is necessary, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent protections.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, restrict how we use it, or provide it in a portable form. You can object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests, and you can withdraw consent to marketing at any time.

Write to info@adamcableacoustic.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Cookies and this website

This site sets no cookies of its own. It carries no analytics, no advertising pixels and no tracking scripts. The typefaces are hosted on our own server rather than loaded from a third party, so visiting a page sends no request anywhere except to us.

The one exception is video. The videos on the Home and Media pages show a still image until you press play. Nothing reaches YouTube before that. Once you press play, the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com, which limits what YouTube stores, but YouTube may still set cookies and process your data at that point under its own terms. If you would rather that did not happen, do not press play.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so will not affect anything on this site, because it does not rely on them.

Changes to this policy

We review this policy at least every two years and update it whenever what we do changes. The date at the top of this page tells you which version you are reading.
